I learnt sewing in Jaffna. Now I am unemployed. I do some sewing at home but it doesn’t get sold. I have trained people to sew as well. I want to make my own sewing business a success.

We have been moving from our home in Manipai since 1995 because we feared for our lives.

Our brother was born on the road in 1996, he had a terrible skin problem and no one wanted to treat him. But we took care of him with all our other problems and now he is cured.

The fact that we had to keep moving from one place to another all these years meant that we could not obtain any form of support from anyone, whether relative or outsider. After the war we got land here in Vavuniya, but it is close the lake and we get flooded when it rains.

The Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils here live like the children of one mother. They should, everywhere. Then there would be no room for another war.

But even more than us, peace in this country would depend on what the Government does and on the decisions it takes. If there were another war, there would be no point in living.
